Lucas Kraft is an artist based in San Marcos, TX pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Texas State University. He previously studied at Columbia College Chicago before transferring to Texas State. His primary interest is in documenting the intricacies of culture in central Texas. He’s traveled from Victoria to Terlingua and produced work on rodeos, drag queens, farmers, immigration activists, friends and strangers alike. His most recent project has been documenting the grassroots organizing against AI datacenter development in his home of San Marcos.

His work has been shown in galleries such as Mothership Studios, San Marcos Art League, and Sabinal Hall. He’s participated twice in the College of Fine Arts student juried exhibition as well as showcasing work at the Night of Ideas, an annual event hosted at Texas State’s Taylor Murphy Hall and sponsored by the Texas Center for Public History and the French Embassy. He’s also worked as an assistant curator for Wittliff Collections in curating a Daniel Johnston exhibition. He currently lives in San Marcos, TX and works for the History Department at Texas State University.
